Premium Auto Body plans to renovate a vacant property while continuing service at its existing shop. Missouri estimates $49,606 in incentives, subject to verification of program requirements.
Premium Auto Body plans to expand in Jackson and add at least five jobs, Missouri’s Department of Economic Development announced October 15. The collision-repair business is also transitioning to ownership by longtime employees Jason Abernathy and Aaron Green, the department said.
The project calls for renovating a vacant property rather than leaving Jackson. Green said customers could continue using the North High Street shop while work proceeds at the new facility.
Planned improvements include a paint booth, more vehicle lifts and upgrades to the building’s ventilation, heating and electrical equipment. Office and customer-service areas are also to be refurbished. The department’s announcement gives no opening date or total project cost.
The state estimates Premium Auto Body will receive $49,606 through Missouri Works, with that support contingent on verification of program requirements. The program supports qualifying business expansion through retention of state withholding taxes or tax credits; the estimate is not a report that money has already been paid.
DED says the new positions will have an average wage above the county average. It does not give a pay rate or hiring schedule. The company has operated since 2000 and provides collision repairs, painting and glass services, according to the release.
What it means
The October 15 announcement directs existing customers to the current shop during renovation, while outlining additional space and employment as the next phase. The planned jobs and conditional incentive do not establish that hiring or payment has occurred. A confirmed opening date remains absent from the announcement.
