Defense, punt coverage and the offensive line all received recognition following the Maroons’ 20–14 victory.
The University of Chicago’s win over Illinois College brought eight players recognition on the D3football.com Team of the Week. Chicago said the total matches the highest number of selections for one school in the award’s history.
Defensive end Simon Tchakarov scored on a 50-yard return after forcing and recovering a fumble. He finished with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks in the 20–14 victory. Punter Tad Tan averaged 53 yards across three attempts, while long snapper CJ Schuster was recognized for keeping a 65-yard punt from becoming a touchback.
The five starting offensive linemen also received honors after Chicago rushed for 271 yards without allowing a sack. They are Michael Schneider, Yahya Yusuf, Gabriel Bardis, Henry Lemmon and Chaz Carson.
Chicago reported a 4–0 Midwest Conference record ahead of its next game at Monmouth. The October 20 release described that matchup as a meeting between two teams still unbeaten in conference play.
