Hulu orders Ryan Coogler's X-Files project to series
Disney confirms Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel as leads, without announcing a filming or premiere calendar.
The announcement
Hulu has picked up Ryan Coogler's reimagining of The X-Files as a series, with Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel starring. Disney's UK press page is dated October 14, 2026, while the announcement itself carries an October 13 London dateline.
The Onyx Collective project is produced by 20th Television with Proximity Media. Coogler wrote and directed the pilot and continues as an executive producer; Jennifer Yale is the showrunner. Disney also confirms the Hulu Original will come to Disney+ in the UK.
What this means
This is a series-order milestone after a pilot, not an announced start of full-series filming. The release supplies no episode count, production window or premiere date. A commissioning decision alone does not establish when viewers will be able to watch.
