Netflix confirms Rata filming in Madrid
The Spanish comedy has entered production; Netflix has not announced a wrap date or release window.
The announcement
Netflix's October 13 announcement places Rata in production in Madrid, with Paco León, Miren Ibarguren and Alicia Falcó leading the cast. Fasten International Films is producing the comedy for the streamer, and Oriol Pérez Alcaraz is directing.
León plays Federico, whose tightly controlled spending is disrupted by the arrival of a daughter he did not know about. Eric Navarro and Natalia Durán wrote the screenplay. The film adapts the French comedy Radin, released in 2016.
What this means
This is a filming milestone, not a release announcement. Netflix reports that shooting has started and identifies Madrid as the location, but does not give the precise first shooting day, an end date or a premiere window. Those dates remain undisclosed.
