Speaker Carl Heastie continued his statewide tour today with Assemblymember Kwani B. O’Pharrow, visiting the Economic Opportunity Council (EOC) of Suffolk, Inc. ACE Family Development Center in Amityville and announcing nearly $2.7 million in total funding for necessary repairs and renovations to certain EOC of Suffolk locations.
“Community organizations like the ACE Family Development Center are vital resources that provide residents with the tools they need to strengthen their families, find fulfilling careers and achieve upward mobility,” said Speaker Heastie. “It was great to be here today with Assemblymember O’Pharrow to learn about the work of this great community organization and all they do every day to improve the lives of local families.”
“The ACE Family Development Center provides so many families throughout the community critical personal and career development skills so that they can succeed at home and at work,” said Assemblymember O’Pharrow. “I was glad to show Speaker Heastie this important community organization and the impact it has on so many families throughout the community.”
Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember O’Pharrow together took a tour of the ACE Family Development Center and announced nearly $2.7 million in state funding for EOC of Suffolk for building repairs and renovations such as new roofing. This funding includes $1.21 million for the youth center, $1.11 million for the ACE Center for Head Start and school buildings, as well as $365,000 for senior center repairs.
The ACE Family Development Center is a community organization that offers a range of programs intended to strengthen family relationships, improve job skills and provide individuals with the tools they need to secure higher paying, more fulfilling employment. The ACE Center also assists in advocacy and referral-based case management services, assistance in obtaining government benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid/Medicare and housing search assistance.
