Big Thicket National Preserve and the Railroad Commission of Texas successfully remove navigational hazards in the Neches River

Four abandoned oil and gas wells, plugged in the 1970s-1980s, posed navigational hazards to boaters on the Neches River. The NPS partnered with the State of Texas to remove and remediate the exposed wells.
