NPS Announces Completion of the Watergate Wetlands Restoration Project
October 31, 2022 · Source: National Park Service
The restoration of 20 acres of wetlands and 800 feet of Van Campens Brook at the Watergate Recreation Site on the NJ side of the park was accomplished by removing dams and ponds and returning the area to its natural topography. The restoration re-established the natural flow of both surface water and groundwater, allowing wetlands to flourish and stream quality to improve.
